Exams in other departments:
Please note: For courses in other departments, the rules and deadlines of the respective departments apply, which may differ from ours.
During the registration periods, you can register for and withdraw from examinations via ZEuS. You do not need to provide reasons.
Applications for academic adjustments for coursework and performance assessments („Nachteilsausgleich”) need to be handed in to the departmental examination board at least one month before the exam to allow for sufficient time for the organisation of the measures.
Help for registering in ZEuS
Registering for course-related performance assessments in ZEuS has some flaws. This video summarizes the most important hints (in English using the CIS Master's program as an example, but the hints can be applied to the other programs):
Further assistance:
- ZEuS Wiki for students: videos and descriptions explaining the use of ZEuS, provided by the ZEuS-support
- Registering for exams which belong to various areas (video in German): many modules in the basic and advanced areas of studies for the master’s degree belong to more than one area. In ZEuS, you need to "activate" these exams before you can register for them. After activation, you need to navigate to the corresponding spot again.
- Registering key competence courses or courses from other departments: Please register these courses in the Area of Supplementary Courses, if the credits are needed for your degree.
If you can’t register in ZEuS
During the registration period of the department
If, within the registration period (including a grace period of 24 h after the expiry of the registration deadline), obstacles arise during registration or deregistration in ZEuS for which the student is not responsible, an extraordinary registration can be requested via the department's online form, stating the reasons. In the case of technical obstacles, please contact the ZEuS technical support.
Outside the registration period of the department
If the registration period for course-related performance assessments of the department has elapsed, registration or deregistration via ZEuS or the extraordinary registration via the department is no longer possible. In this case, you must submit an application to the departmental examination board.
The department decides in all cases on an individual basis and after thorough examination and also reserves the right to reject insufficiently or unobjectively justified applications!
Further Information
First and second exam period
The examination period begins after the lecture period ends. You are free to choose between the first exam date (at the close of or after the lecture period) and the second exam date (towards the end of the lecture-free period). We strongly recommend that you register for the first exam date, so that you can resit the examination in case you failed your first attempt.
Exercises as prerequisites for exam registration
Regular courses typically consist of lectures and additional practice tutorials. You will need to complete both components and will receive an overall grade for both after passing your examination. Very often, you must have completed your exercise sheets and collected a sufficient number of credits to obtain the right to sit an examination.
If you do not collect enough points on the exercise sheets and thus do not receive admission to the exam, but are nevertheless already registered in ZEuS, "NZ" will be entered in ZEuS for the exam in question. This then does not count as a failed attempt.
Sitting an exam without registering in ZEuS
You are not permitted to sit a course-related performance assessment if you did not register first. Check your ZEuS account well in advance of the exam and get in contact with your study advisor in case something is wrong.
If you are not on the lecturer’s list but are sure that you are registered correctly, fill out the form “Klausur unter Vorbehalt” (exam under reserve) which is provided by the lecturer. Your right to take the examination and the reasons for the mistake will be reviewed by the Examination Office later. If it turns out that you were not properly registered for the exam, the exam is invalid and will not be corrected.
